Finale

As you may or may not know by now, Kratos leaves the party for quite some time. He does rejoin Lloyd and company at the Iselia Ranch temporarily, but leaves once again. How do you get him to rejoin you in the end? It's quite simple actually, but you must keep in mind that if Kratos rejoins, Zelos is replaced because he is killed. You have to make a decision on which character you would prefer in the end. I would suggest playing at least two different games, and having Kratos in one and Zelos in the other, just to see both versions of the story.

The main event you need to occur is for Lloyd to talk to Kratos in Flanoir after the whole doctor affair. Lloyd will be in his room at the inn, and three characters will knock on his door and ask him if he wants to do something. It may make you feel bad, but you must reject the three characters in order to get Kratos to come and talk to Lloyd. If you do so, Lloyd will go outside hearing his voice, and Kratos will come up behind him and they will talk about what happened to Lloyd's mother.

On the side of this, it helps to have Kratos' affection for Lloyd pretty high as well. This can be easily done by simply agreeing with Kratos on any matter, or choosing him to go in the party with Lloyd when the whole party has to split up. Kratos cares for his son deeply, so it is rather hard to lower Kratos' affections otherwise. What do you do when Kratos is gone? Generally speaking, disagreeing with Zelos is the way to go. Zelos betrays the party if you decide to reunite with Kratos, so he has to believe Lloyd doesn't trust him. Note that if Kratos does not rejoin you, he does not betray you. He will still help Lloyd, but the storyline will change a bit in order to incorporate Zelos.

Otherwise, Kratos remains with you until the very end, and helps Lloyd and company to defeat Mithos. He proves his worth and loyalty to his son, and is freed of some of the guilt he has been carrying for thousands of years.
